Conservative leader David Cameron is refusing to confirm when a by-election will be called in Henley-on-Thames to elect a successor to Boris Johnson. In a press conference on Tuesday, David Cameron confirmed that Boris Johnson would stand down as MP for Henley, but he would not say when the by-election would be called.

In a reference to the Liberal Democrats, who are in second place in Henley, he said:

"There's an enormous amount of yellow peril waiting to hear the date and I just want to keep them on tenterhooks for a little longer."
