Are You Registered to Vote?

7.41.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 11th May 2008

You need to be on the electoral register to vote in all UK elections and referendums. You are not automatically registered even if you pay council tax.

Most people register between August and November every year when the local council delivers a registration form to your home. This is called the 'annual canvass'. However, you can also register at any other time in the year by downloading a form www.aboutyourvote.org.uk and returning it to your local electoral registration office.
